  According to the latest report of Frost & Sullivan, the global income from instant message (IM) in 2003 amounted to 119 million USD. The figure will grow continuously as the enterprises become aware of the security threat from the public IM system more and more.

  The Enterprise IM system will prevail sooner or later although the public IM system is very popular among the enterprises at the moment. The public IM system can be used anywhere, but it has shortcomings in security protection.

  Enterprise IM system has a great potential of development on the world market. Although about 90% of the enterprises in North America have enjoyed some kind of IM service, the actual access rate of Enterprise IM service is only about 10%.

Business income of ADLINK in August Amounting to 113 million TWD

  The business income of ADLINK the global leading provider of high-end industrial computer (CompactPCI) and PXI applications(6166)in August 2004 amounted to 113 million TWD. The total business income from January to August of the year is more than 990 million TWD, an increase of 40% than the same period of the last year.

China Unicom cooperating with Shanghai Alcatel to provide NGN in China

  On September 8, Shanghai Alcatel announced that China Unicom has adopted the next generation network(NGN)techniques provided by it to develop the integrated service network (ISN) in eight provinces and cities in China. By the implementation of the projects, China Unicom will provide more diversified services based on the existing backbone network. The existing backbone network of China Unicom is an integration of MANs (metropolitan area network) based on various kinds of techniques, including SDH, ATM, FR and IP techniques. The contract as signed by the two companies covers eight provinces and cities (Jiangsu, Shanghai, Gansu, Henan, Ningxia, Heilongjiang, Jinlin and Hubei).

  According to Shanghai Alcatel, by the end of 2004 there will be more than 200,000 end users who can enjoy various kinds of NGN services, such as IP Centrex, wire/wireless point-to-point/point-to-multipoint videoconference service, prepaid charging service and IP Bar services. With all these solutions, the voice, IP and video services provided by China Unicom in major cities of China will be expanded and integrated into an unified network.
