Mobile phone operator-----major competitor of IP phone

Jupiter recently released a report on the development trend of IP telephone. According to the report, titled "wideband phone, the competitive voice service enhancing the development of IP telephone", there will be as many as 400,000 families in America using IP phone by the end of the year and by 2009, the figure will be 12.10 million, accounting to 10% of the total number of American families. More over, by 2009, about 17% of the domestic wideband users in America will use IP phone, while by the end of 2004, the percentage rate is only 1%.

In spite of the fast development of IP phone service, Jupiter pointed out that the IP phone service provider will still face two major challengers: the traditional telephone service operator has a big and faithful group of users, and the mobile phone service operator has a new group of users, who are much younger. These two will bring a great challenge to the development of IP phone service.
