HiPath 3000 building the first call center platform for psychological
crisis in China
According to the data released by the China Ministry of
Public Health, there are about 287000 persons died of suicide every year,
accounting for 3.6% of the total death toll in China. Suicide ranks the
5th among the major causes of death during 1995 and 1999, and the first
among the major cause of death of the population between 15 and 34 years
old. This has been an emergency problem in public health. As experts point
out, in the coming 10 years, depression, schizophrenia and psychological
problems will be the most harmful diseases in China.
To solve the problem effectively, Beijing Psychological Crisis Research
and Prevention Center, the first professional organization engaged in
the research and treatment of suicide and depression in China, was established
in Beijing Huilongguan Hospital. It provides a professional policlinic
for the people who have a suicide tendency and those around them. To extend
the scope of service, the center plans to establish a "800"
consultation service hotline to provide 24 hours consultation service
for the patients all over the country.
In October of 2004, WHO examined and highly valued the platform of the
center. It is a successful example for the world.
VoIP: great increase in the demand on the world market, with total
output value reaching 585 million USD in 2004
With the dramatic increase in the demand on the world market for VoIP
services, the output value of VoIP equipment in Taiwan increased greatly
(585 million USD in 2004, while 403 million USD in the second half of
the year, an increase of 122% compared with that of the first half year).
The output value of products for enterprises and families in the second
half of 2004 were 108 million USD and 295 million USD respectively, an
increase of 53% and 199% compared with that of the year before last year.
