Airspan acquiring AreINet to realize VoIP through the WiMAX netowrk

To increase the market share for wireless VoIP and WiMAX service, Airspan Networks signed a contract with AreINet, a provider of VoIP network equipment.

According to the clauses of the contract valued 8.7 million USD, Airspan will acquire all the outstanding shares of AreINet. The payment will be made with 4 million USD in cash and 4.7 million USD in Airspan's common stock.

Airspan hopes to use the switching and network gateway technique of AreINet to develop voice telephone solutions oriented to WiMAX system.
Heli (Rachel) Ben Nun, CEO of AreINet says that it is a promising application to use wireless network, including WiMAX to realize VoIP.

Sonus cooperating with Tianfeng Juyuan to develop VoIP market in China

Ever since signing the contract with Beijing Capitel (a company subordinate to China Putian Group) in December of 2004 to market VoIP facility solutions, Sonus (Sonus Networks) once again cooperated with Chinese enterprise. On March 26, Sonus announced that it would work together with Beijing Tianfeng Juyuan Electronic Technology Company (subordinate to Juyuan Group) to open a new world for VoIP services.
The two sides have not disclosed the details on the cooperation yet, but it is obvious to see from Simon Naylor's words that Sonus is mainly interested in the rich experience of Tianfeng Juyuan in developing and providing network facilities and services.

The State Council Information Office to start NGN

The state council information office of China and Alcatel Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. held the signing ceremony for the construction of NGN at the news-releasing hall of the state council information office on March 28.
According to the contract, the state council information office will adopt mature 5020 soft switch equipment provided by Alcatel Shanghai Bell to construct a brand new NGN (next generation network) that will cover a wide areas, including Beijing, Shanghai, Xinjiang and Tibet. The project will be completed by June this year, when the staff of the state council information office can enjoy brand new, efficient and customized multi-media services, including video conference, UPT, VPN and soft telephone. Besides, they can get access to the telecom network of the information office with computer, telephone, mobile or PDA at any time and any place.
