New types of telecom services developing rapidly
In the past two years, new types of telecom services, represented
by VoIP services, has developed rapidly in America and affected the market
of traditional telecom services, such as local telephone services, long-distance
telephone service and mobile telecom services.
Nowadays, more than 60% of American families use broadband service, and
for this reason the number of VoIP service providers are growing rapidly.
According to the latest statistic made by IDC, there are about 1000 VoIP
providers in America.
At present, there are 4 million American families enjoying VoIP services
with various kinds of devices and 1 million subscribers who get access
to Internet-based VoIP telephone set with special devices. As anticipated
by IDC, the number of VoIP subscribers in America will probably reach
12 million by 2009. Some even say that the number will reach 17 million
by 2008.
China VoIP Conference and Exhibition 2005 being held successfully
On May 18, China VoIP Conference and Exhibition 2005 (the 7th) was held
in the Great Wall Hotel of Beijing. About 1000 professional personnel
in this industry registered and presented at the conference (the largest
number up until now). They are fixed network operators, mobile operators
and scientific institutions (China Telecom, China Netcom, China Unicom
and Telecom Research Institute of Information Industry), famous manufacturers,
(UT Starcom, Cisco, Texas Instrument China and Alcatel Shanghai Bell.)
and international organizations (IPCC, SIP forum). China VoIP Conference
and Exhibition has been held successfully for six times up until now.
It is one of the most important meetings in the VoIP industry, which plays
a big role in enhancing the development of the whole industry.
Vonage testing mobile VoIP service---fixed telephone service provider
now entering the cell phone market
Vonage is now testing the Linksys Wi-Fi routers. In earlier time Vonage
said that the customers were also testing the cell phone devices with
Wi-Fi antennae.
Vonage also says that Wi-Fi is becoming more and more popular. Last Friday
mobile phone operator Nextel said they had worked with Boingo and Wayport
to provide a new service. Subscribers of such service can visit the 7000
hot points with any restriction, at a monthly price of 40 USD.
