Huawei signing strategic cooperation contract with Telefónica

Local time: Nov. 14, 2005 - Huawei, the world leading provider of telecom products and services, announced that it has signed a contract with world famous telecom operator Telefónica at the Prime Minister's office in Madrid of Spain. Telefónica chose Huawei as a strategic partner for the innovation of business in the field of 3G and broadband. Meanwhile, the two sides will work together to develop the market in Latin America. Mr. Hu Jintao, Chairman of P.R.C., who were visiting Spain at that time, and Zapatero, Prime Minister of Spain, both witnessed this strategic cooperation. According to the contract, Telefónica and Huawei will work together in the field of 3G (3G devices and solutions) and Digital Home (broadband IP).

UT Starcom gaining big order from China Telecom for IPTV

UT Starcom announced on Tuesday that China Telecom would adopt the mVision end-to-end IPTV system in the IPTV service that is to be put on the market at the end of this year. China Telecom plans to provide the above-mentioned IPTV service first to 5000 users in Shanghai.
Before providing the IPTV service, China Telecom has tested commercial-used IPTV in five provinces. China Telecom plans to cooperate with Shanghai Media Group (SMG) to provide service pack of television broadcasting and video on demand. The very day the share price of UT Starcom was USD1.53 up in NASDAQ routine transaction, closing at USD8.10, an increase of 23.31%. In the following transaction, the share pirce dropped by USD 0.43, closing at USD 7.67, an decrease of 5.33%.
