Report: sales income from NGN equipment increasing by 70%

According to the report of Dittberner Associates, compared with the sales of media gateway, soft switch and VoIP device in the last quarter, the sales of NGN network equipment increased by70% in the 3rd quarter of the year. During this time, the sales of terminal equipment of VoIP increased by 67%. In spite of the increase in the sales income, there are still price pressure on the market. All over the world, the sales income from NGN network equipment increased by 49%. The sales income from VoIP service and related services amounted to 609,000,000 USD in the 3rd quarter of the year, while the sales income from IP/ATM/TDM and related services amounted to 671,000,000 USD.

Huawei has taken the place of Nortel to be the major manufacturer of VoIP terminal equipment. In the last quarter, Huawei sold 12,360,000 unit of VoIP terminal devices. SIEMENS continues to occupy the second largest market share on the market of VoIP terminal equipment, while the market share of Nortel decreased by 11%. According to the report of Dittberner Associates, the increase in the sales of is a result of the increaseof the sales of NGN network equipment in the Asia-pacific region (202%), and in Caribbean Sea and Latin America (81%). As a result of network integration, the sales in North America has decreased by 12% in the last quarter.

Sales income from Internet-based value added service higher than earlier forecast

Morganstanley says in a report released recently that the sales turnover of Tencent (0700-HK) in the third quarter amounted to 363,000,000 RMB, an increase of 9%, a little lower than earlier forecast. Sales of Internet-based value added service is higher than earlier forecast, while value-added mobile service is lower than the forecast. Morganstanley lowered the forecast of earnings per share during 2005-2007 by 12% and 9% and 7%.

IMS awarding contract to Lucent

Cingular Wireless, the largest wireless telecom service provider in America, SBC, who has acquired AT&T recently, and Bell South selected the IP multi-media system (IMS) provided by Lucent to construct the next generation of integrated network.

4 of the 5 major telecom operators in North America, including Sprint that has signed contract with Lecent, have decided to apply IMS technique. All of them selected Lecent to provide technical support. This help Lucent consolidate the leading position on the world IMS market.
