Expenses in wireless and mobile market will be increased by three
times
The research report released by visiongain on this Tuesday shows that
in 2008 the enterprises will spend expenses three times as much as what
they spend today in mobile and wireless market.
According to the result of the research, this year the enterprises spent
50 billion USD on mobile and wireless activity. It says that the expenses
will amount to 130 billion USD in 2008.
Microsoft's SM-based MSN/Hotmail" service available to 70% of
the mobile phone users in India
According to foreign medias, Microsoft made a further step in India.
On Dec. 13, Mobile 365 of Microsoft, engaged in MSN and SM business, announced
that it had signed a cooperation contract with five Indian telecom operators
to provide Hotmail service and MSN service to the large number of mobile
phone users in India.
Such services, similar to the "Mobile QQ" in China, will enable
the mobile phone users of India to send and receive emails (Hotmail) through
the mobile phone, and chat with their friends through the SM-based MSN
service.
Up until now, the MSN service and Hotmail service has been available to
70% of the mobile phone users in India. Microsoft says that it hope to
increase the percentage to 100%.
India is one of the fastest growing market in the world for mobile telecom.
At present, there are 53,000,000 GSM users and 14,000,000 CDMA users.
According to the forecast of Indian telecom department, there will be
over 200,000,000 mobile phone users in India in 2008.
As well as other enterprises in America and Europe, Microsoft increased
investment in India in recent years. Earlier this month, the company said
that it would invest 1700,000,000 USD in India in the coming four years,
and would employ 3000 more engineers to enhance the R&D of software.
Microsoft and MCI providing VoIP service together
On Monday (local time, Seattle, America), Microsoft and MCI announced
together that they would soon launch a new service to enable the users
to make phone calls from PC to traditional telephone set.
Last week, YAHOO announced that it would integrate the above-mentioned
function into IMS. AOL has launched such service this Autumn.
