VoIP growing fast, due to the low cost/price

According to TeleGeography, a market research company, low cost/price is still the major drive for the growth of VoIP service in the world.
In 2004, the hold time of VOIP telephone system amounted to 308 billion minutes, growing at a rate 35%---lower than the growth rate (100%) in earlier time, but still remains growing.
Latin America is the largest market for VOIP service, accounting for 1/3 of the total hold time. Asia, especially South Asia, ranks the second, while former soviet union ranks the third.

Alcatel Shanghai Bell to upgrade the customer service centers of Zhejiang Telecom

Alcatel Shanghai Bell announced recently that it was selected by Zhejiang Telecom to upgrade the customer service centers of the latter in 11 cities with B/OSS solutions.

According to the contract, Alcatel Shanghai Bell will be responsible for coordinating the work, integrating the leading Genesys contact center software, access switch equipment and other manufacturer's equipment, upgrading the recording system, database/application server system and program-controlled switching system and increasing the number of positions to improve the safety performance and reliability of the customer service center of Zhejiang Telecom. The whole project will be completed in July 2006.

Alcatel is a world leading integrator of B/OSS solutions. Up until now, it has deployed B/OSS solutions for over 80 telecom operators in the world.

"12345" receiving 500,000 calls---Beijing to build non-emergency aid center

"To establish a non-emergency aid hotline system to meet the demand of the society" has been on the agenda of the municipal government. By various technical means, such as upgrading the positions or increasing the number of positions, the manual ASR (answer receive ratio) of the hotline system has been increased from 18% to 35%. Up until yesterday, hotline "12345" has received about 500,000 calls from the citizens, providing a basis for the leaders of the municipal government to make decisions.
