China Mobile: 700,000,000 short message a day, data business accounting for 20% of the total business

At the China Telecom Annual Meeting held on Jan. 5, representative of China Mobile Communications Research Institute says that China Mobile has been attracting 3000,000 more users every month in 2005, and the data business is growing very quickly, accounting for 20% of the total business revenue. By Sept., the total number of users has amounted to 223,000,000 RMB.

Today, the world largest GSM network has cover 85.7% of the countryside, while international roaming has been available in 122 countries and regions.

China Mobile has 2000 local SPs, and 700 SPs in other part of the world. It has 277 short message centers and 18 WAP gateways (700,000,000 short messages a day). In 2005, the business increased by120% over 2004, and the business income increased by over five times. Income from color ring are also increasing (in August of 2005 the income increased by 77.5% over that in Jan, reaching 400,000,000 RMB)
