Huawei's mobile soft switch serving Saudi Arabia Telecom
On Jan. 25 of 2006, Huawei announced that the GSM mobile soft switch
equipment it provided to Saudi Arabie Telecom had been working quite well
during the Hajj that last from Jan. 8 to Jan. 13, 2006.
On Jan. 9 of 2006, the total amount of mobile users in Mecca exceeded
3,000,000, and the heaviest traffic exceeded 3000K BHCA (the traffic volume
being 20 times as much as before). The amount of short messages and switching
are 18 and 24 times as much as before. In such condition, the call completion
ration didn't drop compared with other times.
Huawei is quite capable in providing mobile soft switch equipment, with
central management, balanced network load. This capability was well reflected
during the Haij period when the amount of users increased by 20% than
that in the same period of the last year. During this time, Saudi Arabia
Telecom kept a high access success rate (call completion rate), and earned
30% more. To show its appreciation, Saudi Arabia awarded "2005 The
Biggest Achievement" to Huawei.
Singapore Changi Airport providing VoIP service
Recently, Singapore Changi Airport launched VoIP telephone service, through
with the passengers can save 80% of the cost when making international
phone calls in the airport. This makes Changi Airport one of those providing
high-quality and low-cost international telephone service. Civil Aviation
Authority of Singapore launched this service by cooperating with the largest
VoIP service provider in Asia.
This VoIP telephone system includes 23 booths in the waiting rooms in
the first and second building. The passenger need only to pay a prepayment
of 5 Singapore dollars (1.68 Singapore dollar = 1 U.S. dollar) for such
service. Refund for any overpayment or a supplemental payment for any
deficiency
Juniper cooperating with Avaya to improve the safety performance of IP
telephone
This Wednesday, Avaya and Juniper announced to further cooperate with
each other to improve the safety performance of the next generation of
enterprise telephone service.
The two sides didn't declare any plan for new products, but attached importance
to products integration and business cooperation. Avaya's IP telephone
will integrate the safety and WAN functions of Juniper. By providing such
products the enterprise may realize mobile office.
Feb, 2006: the two companies will provide the new products in North America
first, and then in Europe, Mid East and Africa. It will be available in
the Asia-Pacific region before the end of this year.
