PacificNet finish acquiring Guangzhou Wanrong

PacificNet (Nasdaq: PACT), China's leading VAS provider, announced today that it signed a contract with Guangzhou Wanrong Information Technology to acquire 51% of the equity share. As China's leading VAS provider, Guangzhou Wanrong has provided services to China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom and China Netcom. After this, it will become a subsidiary of PacificNet, and the latter will consolidate Wanrong's sales income into its own financial statement, which will lead to a substantial increase in the business income of PacificNet.

IDC: VoIP subscribers will reach 19,800,000 in America in 2009

Market research company IDC says in a report that the number of VoIP subscribers will increase dramatically, and will reach 19,800,000 by 2009
It says that in 2005 the number of VoIP subscribers in America was increasing very rapidly to reach 2,200,000 and will reach 19,800,000 by 2009. In spite of the growth, VoIP service providers still need to expand the business scope, providing various services, such as voice, mobile and multi-media services, to compete with existing telecom service providers.
