VoIP users increased by 200%, amounting to 4,500,000

Internet phone service experienced a dramatic growth in the last year, with the number of Internet phone service subscribers in America increased by 200%, reaching 4,500,000 U.S.D, and sales income over 1,000,000,000U.S.D. According to the market research company TeleGeography, at the beginning of 2005 there were 1300,000 subscribers in America, while in the past three months, 900,000 more subscribers joined in. Cable TV is the largest Internet phone service provider, whose market share increased from 45% in the last year to 52% this year.
Vonage, the largest ITSP (Internet telephone service provider) up until now, has 1,200,000 Internet telephone service users in total, overtaking Cable TV Dept. of Times Warner, who has 1,100,000 users. However, Times Warner is the most fast growing ITSP-it will beat Vonage this year.
TeleGeography forecasts that in the coming 3 to 4 years, Internet telephone companies will absorb 3,000,000 new users each year.
