Sales volume of IP equipment exceeding that of traditional digital
exchange in 2005
According to the latest report from Dittberner, the volume of NGN IP terminal
equipment being sold has overtaken that of traditional digital equipment
in 2005. In the year, sales volume of the latter declined by30%, while
that of IP telephone terminal equipment increased by 151%.
The report says that China and Russia have greatly reduced their investment
on digital exchange and has turned to NGN techniques and IP telephone
techniques. This is one of the reasons for the change of the situation.
The report also says that telecom operators in the world are replacing
PSTN infrastructure with soft switch solutions that provides IP-based
multi-media services and circuit-switched telephone service through single
platform.
It drew a conclusion that the telecom operators are making efforts to
form a user group in this regard, and this is why they begun to invest
more in this field.
