Shanghai Telecom ordering software from American companies to arrest VoIP calls

April 5, Peking time, According to foreign media, Narus, an American network management software developer, announced that it has got an order from Shanghai Telecom for detecting and arresting VoIP calls with the software it developed.
Shanghai Telecom has about 6200,000 fixed telephone users at present. The company is planning to use Narus software to arrest unauthorized calls coming through Internet to fixed telephone network. These calls are outside the charging system of Shanghai Telecom.
Speaker of Narus says that operators in many countries, including Egypt, are using this software to block the interface between VoIP telephone network and traditional telephone network. However, Narus is not the only American company that cooperates with Chinese operators. Verso Technologies also announced that a Chinese operator were trying its software.
